I am being pressed to surrender the London School of Economics in Houghton Street. The School buildings, occupied by staff of the Air Ministry and Ministry of Civil Aviation, are held on lease from the Governing Body by the Ministry of Works for a period of 7 years from 1st September, 1939, determinable by either side on three months' notice after the expiry of the Emergency Powers (Defence) Act, 1939.
