WORLD FOOD OUTLOOK. Memorandum by the Minister of Food

1 Oct 1945

2 4. Table I gives an estimate of world export supplies and import require- ments for the crop year the 1st July, 1945–the 30th June, 1946.* The figures are far from infallible. They are the best estimates which can be made at this date. The import "requirements" for the United Kingdom and liberated countries provide consumption levels far short of pre-war standards. In the United States consumption levels are rapidly approaching, if not surpassing, pre-war levels. In that country there is a growing demand for the abolition of all food rationing.
