I should propose in any public announcement to make it clear that the Government were deliberately taking risks in removing export control and would be prepared to consider reimposing it if that were proved to be necessary in any particular case. 5. My Department are accordingly engaged in consultation on the details of this policy with the Supply Departments concerned, and I would ask my colleagues, in the interests of export trade, not to play safe but to anticipate some casing in supplies of goods for export and only to ask for the minimum number of goods to be included on the list.
