31 Aug 1945

that his country 3. The only overseas source of supply for this flour is the U.S.A. At a meeting of the Cereals Sub-Committee of the Combined Food Board held in January last the United States representative agreed should be a source of supply for the balance then required and the allocations proposed at that meeting were subsequently approved by the Combined Food Board. But in spite of the efforts of the British Food Mission no flour was delivered and it was not until the 10th August at a meeting in London with United States officials that agreement was reached in principle to the supply of United States flour to the United Kingdom, the quantity being agreed at 395,000 tons for the calendar year 1945.
