APPENDIX WORK DONE BY WOMEN'S VOLUNTARY SERVICES FOR GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS In addition to the work done for the Home Office, W.V.S. are also giving services to a large number of other Government Departments, a list of which is given below:- MINISTRY OF HEALTH Evacuation (billeting, sick-bays, communal feeding centres, hostels, social centres) War Nurseries Short Stay Homes Escorts Transport General Welfare Schemes Re-evacuation - welfare work at reception end Rest Centres - calling in equipment Clothing of bombed people, under fives etc.
