PRESENT FOOD POSITION AND PROSPECTS FOR THE WINTER OF 1945/1946. Memorandum by the Minister of Food.

18 Aug 1945

-2- 25,000 tons of unsweetened condensed milk are to be issued on "points". Household milk powder will be issued to supplement the fresh milk supply at the same rate as last year. Fish supplies are progressively increasing and should reach pre-war level by the end of the year. Labour for increased fish distribution is going to be a serious problem. World wheat supplies during the next twelve months seem likely to fall considerably short of requirements unless steps are taken in North America to reduce the quantity fed to livestock.
