The publication of the summary would not affect the publication by individual Departments of their own statistics in detail, but it would have the advantage of presenting a single com- prehensive statistical picture of the economic position. 5. Where statistical publications have been suspended during the war solely because of shortages of material or manpower it should be for the responsible Department to resume publication as soon as these shortages disappear.
