-2- 6. In these circumstances authority is sought to depart from the procedure laid down by the Treasury Disposals Committee to the extent of refraining from attempting recovery of the beds and bedding issued to householders for the use of billetees, whether they be evacuees, transferred war workers, land army girls or otherwise.. It would clearly be unjustifiable to discriminate between the types of biletees accommodated and some householders will, of course, have billeted all types. The quantities affected in England and Wales are estimated at not more than 400,000 blankets (roughly 25% of the quantity issued), 50,000 pallets and perhaps 100,000 camp beds; about half-a-million camp beds have been issued and though no data are available as to the proportion likely to be still in a good enough condition for further use, it is not thought to be more than 20%.
