ARRANGEMENTS FOR HOLIDAY ON CESSATION OF HOSTILITIES WITH GERMANY. POST OFFICE SERVICES. Memorandum by the Postmaster General.

3. Separation Allowances, Old Age Pensions, etc. will not be paid after Cease Fire is sounded, until the day next but one after Cease Fire day. If Cease Fire day should prove to be a Friday, allowances will not be payable till Monday. 4. Special arrangements may have to be made for the treatment of certain classes of Service traffic, e.g. telegrams notifying extension of leave. 5. There will be preliminary broadcast and press announcements outlining the proposed arrangements. The public will be asked to refrain except in case of urgency from the use of the telegraph and of the long distance telephone.
