Total stocks at end of month million tons 1944: December 7.15 1945: January 6.71 February 6.53 March 6.41 April 6.14 Thus by the end of April stocks are expected to be a million tons lower than at the beginning of the year; they will also be a million tons lower than at end-April 1944. About two-thirds of the decline in the first 4 months of 1945 will be in stocks of the major imported commodities; wheat stocks are forecast to fall during this period by nearly 180 thousand tons, flour stocks by 100 thousand tons, sugar stocks by 190 thousand tons, stocks of canned meat by 120 thousand tons, and stocks of oilseeds by 75 thousand tons.
