The present scheme need not, therefore, in itself prejudice Government policy regarding the ownership and financing of civil airfields generally, provided that, if and when the question arises of developing Filton For civil air transport, suitable financial arrangements are made with the Bristol Aeroplane Co. and the Bristol Corporation. It is, however, 1 think, important that the Government should not finance any part of the extension which would be required solely for the purpose of making the airfield suitable for use as a civil airport.
