For a food producing and exporting country, Australia has in the common interest made a noteworthy reduction in its level of consumption. The detailed comparison shows that before the war the Australian consumption of meat and sugar was considerably greater than in the North American countries or the United Kingdom, while the consumption of milk and eggs was rather greater than our own though less than in North America, Only in fats was Australian consumption below ours.
