It RE OF 'S TARY CES 1. The Committee considered a memorandum by the Home Secretary (L.P.(45) 153) about the future of Women's Voluntary Services. THE HOME SECRETARY said that Women's Voluntary Services had originally been established for work connected with air raid precautions but that, as time went on, they had done valuable work in many other directions The work was done almost entirely on a voluntary basis but the cost of paid organisers and travelling and other expenses was net by the Home Office, as inheritor of the obligations of the Ministry of Home Security.
