1. The Committee had before them a memorandum by the Minister of Health and the Secretary of State for Scotland (L.P.(45) 91) to which was annexed a copy of the report of the Inter-departmental Committee on Rent Control. THE MINISTER OF HEALTH said that the report of the Committee had now been published. Their recommendations, which were very largely unanimous, raised a number of major issues of policy and proposed far-reaching changes in the present system of rent control. Legislation to give effect to the Committee's main recommendations would take a long time to prepare, would be controversial and would make large demands on Parliamentary time.
