1. The Committee had before them a joint memorandum by the Minister of Health, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (L.P.(45) 90), seeking approval for the preparation of a Bill to amend the Housing (Rural Workers) Acts and to extend their operation for a further period. THE MINISTER OF HEALTH explained that the Acts, unless extended, would cease to operate after September 1945. The Central Housing Advisory Committee had recommended that the Acts should be amended and an undertaking to introduce legislation for this purpose had been given to Parliament.
