of ltural h### s. 1. The Committee considered a Memorandum by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (L.P.(45) 42). THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES said that it was generally known that it had been the Government's intention, in 1940, that the remuneration of agricultural workers should be raised to a level comparable with other rural workers such as roadmen, rural railway workers, etc. The Government had thought that the substantial rise in the national minimum wage of agricultural workers from 38/to 48/in 1940 would have this effect.
