DISTRIBUTION OF DOCTORS IN 1944.: Memorandum by the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs.

20 Dec 1944

3. It has not in fact proved possible, months of 1944, to meet in full the approved allocation of 1,250 doctors for the Armed Forces. By 30th September, the Central Medical War Committee had nominated 1,010 doctors for the Armed Forces, leaving a deficiency of 240 on the allocation. The Medical Personnel (Priority) Committee report that it will be possible to make up this deficiency and so fulfil the allocation of 1,250 doctors by the end of the year (and, in fact, this has already largely been done).
