FOOD SITUATION IN THE UNITED KINGDOM.: Report for October, 1944.: Memorandum by the Minister of Food.

25 Nov 1944

III. LEND/LEASE SUPPLIES In the five weeks ended 4th November arrivals in the U.K. of Lend/Lease supplies of U.S. origin averaged 38 thousand tons per week as compared with a weekly average of 24 thousand tons in the previous four weeks. The substantial increase was due mainly to greater supplies of processed milk, nearly 60 thousand tons of which arrived in the period under review. Arrivals also included more than 20 thousand tons each of cheese and dried fruit; but there was very little carcase meat and no bacon.
