PUBLICATION OF EXPORT FIGURES: Memorandum by the President of the Board of Trade.

27 Oct 1944

(c) The advantage of making figures freely available to industrialists and others in this country concerned in making their post-war plans outweighs any disadvantages in giving information to our competitors. (d) The suppression of all country detail would lead the Americans to believe that we were deliberately concealing our figures. (e) Adverse Parliamentary criticism may be expected if an Export Account appears in the very attenuated form which it would take if all country detail were omitted.
