ABSENCE FROM WORK PART I The statistics on absence from work given in this paper bring up to date the information previously given to the Committee in L.P. (43) 193 and L.P. (43) 291. This report covers the period June 1943 to April 1944. 2. Figures of total absence from work were obtained from firms employing about 450,000 men and 270,000 women. A smaller number of firms employing about 250,000 men and 160,000 women were able to provide full details of causes of absence. The list of firms making returns changed slightly between October 1943 and April 1944 but the comparability of the figures from math to month was not affected significantly.
