coke ovens situated away from the coalfields which, in the main, are owned by steel works where coke is produced primarily for the purpose of steel production, and only an insignificant proportion is disposed of in the general market. Appendix VI(A) shows, for purposes of comparison, the average wholesale selling prices obtained per unit, for coal, hard coke and hard coke by-products, for the years 1938 and 1943, with the percent increases; and VI(B) shows the approximate average retail price leve of house coal, gas coke and hard coke, with the percentage increases for the years 1939 and 1944.
