RESUMPTION OF WHISKY DISTILLING Memorandum by the Minister of Food.

24 Jul 1944

6. I have seen representatives of the distilling industry who, notwithstanding their labour difficulties, are in a position to restart distilling this year on a modified scale. 7. I shall be able to provide the feedingstuffs needed to maintain the general level of animal feeding rations which were in force last winter. I also expect to be able to meet the requirements for additional cereals needed to cover extra milk production and at the same time to have over at the end of July 1945 about 100,000 tons of barley.
