FROST DAMAGE TO FRUIT, POTATO AND VEGETABLE CROPS IN ENGLAND AND WALES.

24 May 1944

Apples. The damage to apples is serious in Kent, not so serious and only moderate in Wisbech. The blossom was exceptionally abundant and a large crop promised. Elsewhe### the blossoms were not very advanced and many have opened since the frost period. Whilst it is too early to measure the full damage, ther### are still prospects of a reasonable crop of apples. Cherries. Over 60% of this crop is grown in Kent, the most affected area. Only orchards on high land will have any appreciable crop. The crop will certainly be a light one.
