RESTRICTIONS ON PASSENGER TRAVEL. Memorandum by the Minister of War Transport.

5 May 1944

The other outstanding point is the number of journeys that should be allowed. The Service Departments have suggested not less than 12 journeys a year. This is much higher than the number allowed to other categories of civilians who are entitled to concession fares, e.g. evacuated Government staff get 2 free and 3 assisted journeys in the year; transferred industrial workers get 2 assisted journeys home; Civil Nursing Reserve get 2 assisted journeys home; transferred members of the Civil Defence, including Police War Reserve, get 3 free journeys home a year.
