MANPOWER: SUPPLY OF DOCTORS. Memorandum by Minister of Health and Secretary of State for Scotland.

26 Apr 1944

The R.A.F. has its own plans for meeting emergencies within its own Service (e.g. if airfields or hospitals are put out of action or unexpectedly large numbers of casualties are transferred to this country by air), and owing to its relatively small number of specialists it could probably not give much help outside; but it would make what contribution it could. Emergencies occurring in this country. (3) The E.M.S. has undertaken responsibility for all hospital treatment of battle casualties occurring in the early stages of the "Overlord" operation and plans have already been formulated in detail as to the hospitals to be used throughout the country.
