IV. LOSSES AT SEA : AIR RAID DAMAGE The only loss of food at sea in the 4 weeks ended 4th March so far reported was a cargo of just over 2 thousand tons (mainly tea), making a total of 5.5 thousand tons lost in the first 9 weeks of 1944. This represents 0.3 per cent of arrivals plus losses, as compared with an average of 3.1 per cent for the whole of 1943. Although enemy air activity was on a greater scale in February, the amount of damage to food stocks and distributive arrangements was not serious.
