WAR PENSIONS: CHANGES IN PERSONAL INJURIES (CIVILIANS) SCHEME AND HOME GUARD WARRANT. Memorandum by the Minister of Pensions

20 Feb 1944

It was considered necessary to ask that the Committee should give a definite decision on this point also. 4. It will be recalled that the Minister of Pensions proposed in L.P.(44) 44 to exclude the Civil Nursing Reserve from these concessions on the ground that, although they are normally resident in hospitals, they do not differ in this respect from other members of the nursing profession, and that the Minister of Health dissented from this proposal on the ground that, as their Service is scheduled as a Civil Defence Service in the Civilians Scheme, he saw no reason for treating them less favourably than the members of other scheduled Services.
