-2- 7. Difficulties may arise in the higher paid districts. These districts were at first disposed to accept the Award as it stood. When the meeting between the two sides of the industry took place to discuss anomalies in the relative payment of piece workers and day wage workers in districts where the day wages had been raised by the Award to a level approximately equal to that of piece workers, the representatives of the mineworkers in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Yorkshire declared themselves unwilling to allow an increase in piece work rates to take place elsewhere without some increase in the piece work rates of their own districts.
