CONFIDENTIAL PRICE CONTROL OF CONSUMER GOODS. 1. Orders have been made controlling the prices of almost all consumer goods now obtainable for which the Board of Trade are responsible. The only important exceptions are newspapers, tobacco and jewellery. 2. There are, however, differences in the extent and character of control within the field already covered. There are three types of control, the first two being operated by Orders under the Goods and Services (Price Control) Act, 1941. (I) Manufacturers, and usually wholesalers and retailers as well, are not permitted in any event to exceed maximum cash or ceiling prices.
