5 Jan 1944

8. Agricultural Wages and Prices. The Agricultural Wages Board for England and Wales has made orders increasing the national minimum wage for men from 60s. to 65s. per week as from 12th December, 1943, and making consequential changes in the minimum rates for women, juveniles and special classes, and in overtime rates. In Scotland, most District Committees have proposed no increase in existing rates and the Agricultural Wages Board has decided to take no action. Resolutions by four Committees that certain changes should be made in the minimum rates are receiving consideration.
