The Committee had before them a memorandum by the Home Secretary (L.P.(44) 135) on the subject of the extension of double summer time for a further period after 13th August, 1944. THE HOME SECRETARY said that at their meeting on 27th July (W.M.(44) 97th Conclusions, Minute 2), the War Cabinet had invited the Lord President's Committee to consider whether from the point of view of defence against flying bomb and rocket attacks there should not be some extension beyond 13th August.
