###AL (Previous Reference: L.P. (44) 9th Meeting). The Committee had before them a memorandum by the Minister of Fuel and Power (L.P. (44) 47). THE MINISTER OF FUEL AND POWER recalled that, when the National Reference Tribunal made its award on the 22nd January, 1944, the Government's refusal to allow the coal charges account to be used for correcting anomalies created by the award was accompanied by a recommendation that the overhaul in the wages structure of the industry regarded by the Tribunal as long overdue should be put in hand immediately.
