ADMIRALTY REQUIREMENT FOR A NAVAL AMMUNITION DEPOT IN THE NORTH OF ENGLAND. Memorandum by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.

31 Dec 1943

Further, I have no information as to whether the difficulties of the Ministry of Labour or the Ministry of War Transport were temporary only and could have been overcome by special temporary measures. 6. As regards the initial restriction of the Sprotborough site to 540 acres, it is understood that the Admiralty contemplate a review in six months' time of the necessity of expanding the depot to the full size of 1,000 to 1,200 acres, and I have little doubt that the review contemplated will inevitably lead to a demand for additional land.
