Prices for the 1944 crop could be re-negotiated either, as suggested by the Committee, in conjunction with an offer of a firm price for the 1945 crop; or alone. It would be difficult to offer a price for the 1945 crop without at the same time determining the acreage of flax to be aimed at; and it is not possible at present to say what acreage will be required. In the event of a European Armistice opening Continental sources of supply a much smaller acreage would probably suffice for 1945 th### the target of 100,000 acres necessary for 1943 and 1944.
