In view of the changes which have been made in the balance of our production programmes, there is bound to be some increase in localised unemployment - especially in areas where immobile workers released during the contraction of one branch of war production cannot readily be re-absorbed in other employment. At a later stage, there will also be a substantial, though probably temporary, increase in the general volume of unemployment, at the beginning of the demobilisation period after the war.
