DISABLED PERSONS (EMPLOYMENT) BILL. Memorandum by the Minister of Labour and National Service.

27 Sep 1943

Council explained that they wished disabled ex-Service men to be given preference under the Scheme over a disabled person who is not ex-Service, other things being equal. At some stage the Government will have to state whether this principle is accepted or not. There are serious objections to any discrimination based on whether a person has served in the Forces or in industry, as under conditions of total mobilisation of man power all persons are serving where the national interest requires them.
