3. Secondly, we ought to improve the position of widows and children in the light of the recent war pensions changes. In the case of war pensions, it will be remembered, there has recently be### effected an improvement in the standard rates, with increased allowances for the children of widows and, in addition, the pensio### of widows of "other ranks" with children are to be supplemented in respect of any excess over 8/- a week of rent and rates up to a total supplementation of 12/-. This may not be quite suitable in that form for supplementary pensions, but the Board ought to consider how it can best be adapted so as to give substantially the same result.
