The Government has recently reviewed the manpower position in relation to the requirements of industry and the Services. Developments in the war situation necessarily reflect themselves in our manpower policy, and I wish to inform the House of a number of steps which we have decided must be taken at once to meet present and prospective needs. Great though the expansion of the Aircraft Industry has been already we must add still more to its labour force. This can only be done by the further recruitment of women who will therefore not be available for other services.
