(THIS DOCUMENT IS THE PROPERTY OF HIS BRITANNIC MAJESTY'S GOVERNMENT) SECRET. L.P. (43) 177. 15TH JULY, 1943. COPY NO. WAR CABINET. LORD PRESIDENT'S COMMITTEE. HUTTED ACCOMMODATION FOR CLYDESIDE WORKERS. Note by the Chancellor of the Exchequer. There are a number of points which I think my colleagues should have before them when they are considering the memorandum by the Secretary of State for Scotland (L.P.(43) 173) about emergency accommodation for workers in certain Clydeside areas. 1. It is suggested in the memorandum that the proposal is in line with what has been done by Production Departments and the Ministry of Fuel and Power to provide hostels and married quarters for munition workers and miners.
