-2- As a consequence Sir Walter Citrine wrote to me behalf of the General Council of the Trades Union Cong protesting against such a restriction on a policeman t a Trade Union if he takes up work outside his duties a member of a police force. 2. The principle on which the Police Act of 1919 is is that it is undesirable for the police to seek remed for any grievances they have through the ordinary Trad Union machinery, that they must not become involved in trade disputes and that any representations they may w to make as to their conditions of service as policemen be made through the special organisation, namely the Police Federation, created by the Act.
