ANNEX (43)6 (Revise) ###LY, 1943 AD HOC COMMITTEE ON THE CONTROL OF RENTS OF FURNISHED LETS REPORT At their meeting on 4th June the Lord President's ttee invited the Lord Privy Seal to reconvene his ###c Committee with a view to further consideration being to the question of the control of the rents of furnished in Scotland in the light of the discussion at the ng. The Committee were asked to consider specially two stions:- (1) whether it would be feasible to prescribe scales of maximum or standard rents for furnished lets, and (2) whether the problem might be solved by charging local authorities (or administrative committees set up by local authorities) with the function of intervening where excessive rents were being charged and by giving them requisitioning and billeting powers for use in the last resort in cases of overcharging.
