RAILWAYMEN'S WAGE CLAIMS. Memo by the Joint Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of War Transport.

The present position is therefore:- (a) London Passenger Transport Board shopmen War advance - 16/-, plus 3/6d. - 19/6d. (b) Main line railway shopmen. 16/- (claim for 10/- rise outstanding). (c) Road passenger transport operating staff. 15/- (claim for increase recently rejected). (d) Railway conciliation grades; drivers, motormen and firemen and salaried staff. 16/- (claim for 10/- increase outstanding). The Unions base their present claim mainly on the intensification of working on the railways due to the great additional strain under which railwaymen are working.
