Nutrition of School Children. Joint Memo. by the President, Board of Education, S/S Scotland and the Minister of Food.

4 May 1943

Circular (Appendix A) to Local Education Authorities, which is still under discussion with the Treasury and will need modification in points of detail to suit Scottish conditions, we consider that it should be possible on this basis to reach a target stated in very round figures, for England and Wales only, of some, 2 million meals a day by next April and 3 million by April 1945. More exactly we contemplate that with Scotland included, the figures should reach 21/4 million by next April and 31/2 million by April 1945.
