Taking Possession of Land and Termination of Tenancies Up to 12th March, 1943, possession had been taken in England and Wales of 343,132 acres of uncultivated or badly farmed land and in addition tenancies had been terminated without taking possession in respect of a further 225,358 acres. The corresponding figures for Scotland were 135,877 acres and 7,812 acres. 7. Labour In England and Wales the employed strength of the Women Land Army is over 55,000 but there are some 5,000 vacancies still unfilled.
