30 Mar 1943

6. For a number of reasons, however, - shortage of time staff and even of part-time staff in some parts of t###e Country, a large increase in the number of Accredited Her###s and a rapid expansion of the work in connection with the Tuberculosis Attested Herds Scheme, - there has been litt###e no substantial improvement in the position from the point view of frequency of inspection as compared with the peri### prior to April 1938. With a few exceptions it has prove possible to maintain the frequency of inspections carried prior to that date, but apart from instituting a quarterl inspection of all dairy herds supplying milk under the Mi###k Schools Scheme, where the milk is not pasteurised before consumption, and carrying out a small number of inspectio###s those areas in which no inspections had previously been m###d### no appreciable progress has been realised towards the attainment of a minimum of one inspection per annum in al### areas.
