(3) As the Select Committee stated in paragraph 35 of its Report "for many years two broad principles have been applied i### formulating Pension Schemes for members of the Armed Forces. first of these has been that any man who has suffered disablem### in the service of his country should receive what will genera### be regarded as a reasonable level of compensation and liveliho### The second has been that rank should be reflected in pension". In paragraph 45 (viii) it concluded "the demand for equal### in respect of disability pensions wpuld not necessarily extend to the higher ranks in these services".
