Since this matter was raised at the meeting of the Committee on the 1st January the position has materially improved, and I have ###een able to anticipate my expected date for the commencement of ###ilution by a fortnight. The Order requiring merchants and users to offer to the Ministry of Food one-third of their purchases of their ###urchases of barley from growers has resulted in a steady flow of supplies, and has made possible during the first half of January an ###llocation of barley to flour millers sufficient to enable them to ###ommence dilution at the rate of 5 per cent.
