DOCTORS. SUPPLY OF: FOR SERVICES AND CIVILIAN NEEDS. Memo. by Minister of Health and S/S Scotland.

8 Dec 1942

We submit, therefore, that the second alternative proposed by the Committee should be adopted. 8th December, 1942. T.J. ANNEXE. Letter of the 3rd December, 1942, from Sir Geoffry Shakespeare to the Minister of Health. The Medical Personnel (Priority) Committee, at their meeting held yesterday had before them estimates made by the Admiralty, the War Office, and the Air Ministry of the number of doctors required by the Fighting Services in 1943. These estimates were so much in excess of anything which had been envisaged by the Committee that they find it necessary to seek further instructions from you before attempting to deal with the situation.
