of 50% as compared with the level at the 1st October 1942): and, thanks to this, it will be possible to limit newsprint imports in the first half of 1943 to 16,000 tons (with a corresponding reduction of wood pulp imports and the home production of newsprint) while the four ships engaged in the newsprint trade will be made freely available to the Ministry of War Transport from the end of their present voyages until at any rate the end of June 1943. The destocking proposed will involve the saving of about 70,000 tons of shipping space.
