DIFFERENTIATION OF RATES OF CIVILIAN WAR INJURY COMPENSATION AS BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN: Memo. by Minister of Pensions.

25 Sep 1942

Pensions. (See footnote) Non-Gainfully Occupied. The rate fixed for men under scale (a) is the maximum workmen's Compensation Acts because the most usual rates of men's wages on which compensation would be assessed would not be below 60/-, the qualifying rate for the maximum compensation. In the case of women it was necessary to apply a lower rate, not only because the reactions which equal rates would produce on other schemes, but also because 35/- could not be justified by wage rates us a flat rate applicable to the whole class.
